Known as "the most beautiful mountain of China," Huangshan was acclaimed through art and literature during a good part of Chinese history. Today it holds the same fascination for visitors, poets, painters, and professional photographers who come on a trip to the place, which is renowned for its magnificent surroundings comprised of numerous granite peaks and also rocks emerging out of a sea of clouds.
Mt. Huangshan is one of the mountainous scenic spots listed among China's ten most famously beautiful places. Mt. Huangshan is celebrated for having all the wonders of mountain scenery: spectacular rocky peaks, odd-shaped pines, crystal-clear mountain springs, and seas of clouds. Mt. Huangshan enjoys worldwide fame for its beauty. There are many places of interest around the mountain, such as typical Chinese houses, archways, temples, bridges, and streets. It has been listed as a World Natural and Cultural Heritage. There are cable cars to the top of the mountain, so you don't worry about making the long hike up the mountain.
Upon arrival at the Huangshan city airport, you will be met by your English-speaking guide, and he/she will take you to your hotel, which is a 4-star accommodation. You can spend your first night in Huangshan at your leisure, but you might want to experience some of the local culture, which primarily focuses on tea.
Drinking tea is an indispensable part of people's daily life, if you want to experience nightlife in Huangshan City, which is famous for tea production and drinking, then visiting a tea house should be an essential part of your visit. There are more than enough tea houses in Huangshan. This tea you will try will be unique and be like no other you have tasted.
After breakfast in the hotel, we will drive to Yellow Mountain, the premier sight of Mt. Huangshan. With a height of 1873 meters (6145 feet), is the highest peak of the Mt. Huangshan Scenic Area. At present over 500 kinds of animals and 1500 kinds of plants live on the Huangshan Mountains. UNESCO listed Yellow Mountain as one of the World Natural Heritage sites in 1990. In order to get up the mountain, we’ll take the cable car, which is included in the price of your tour.
While on Yellow Mountain, we will see some curious sights, such as the Strange Pines, which re seen in every corner of Yellow Mountain. You will be amazed by their vitality and strength. The seeds fall into the crevices where they take root and grow with great vigor. The uneven terrain prevents the pines from growing upright. Instead they become crooked and even downward. Another feature of Huangshan pines is that many trees grow branches on one side only. Some notable ones that we will see include the Guest-Greeting Pine (in front of the stone lion of the Jade Screen Pavilion in the Jade Screen Scenic Area), and the Guest-Goodbye Pine (to the right of the Jade Screen Pavilion).
We’ll also come across the Jade Screen Scenic Area, and this scenic area has Jade Screen Pavilion as its center and the Lotus Peak and the Heavenly Capital Peak as the main body. This is the Front Mountain as people usually call it. Along the road you will find Peng Lai Three Islands, 100-step Scaling Ladder, the Thread of the Sky and the New Thread of the Sky. "Splendid is the landscape", handwritings by Chairman Mao Ze Dong, are inscribed on the Jade Screen Peak.
We’ll on the peaks of Yellow Mountain, we’ll see the numerous seas and mists of clouds that hover around the mountain. At sunset, the glistening clouds assume every hue from red to purple. You cannot help marveling at this gift from the Creator! You will be struck by the beauty when all the red leaves are floating on the white clouds in autumn, when the clouds gush between the peaks like a raging river while the red leaves flutter delicately in the breeze.
After the sunset, we’ll drive back to Huangshan city where we will spend the night night in the same hotel as the evening before.
After enjoying breakfast and an early sunrise on Yellow Mountain, we take you to see more of the sights at Mt. Huangshan. These include some intriguing stones and rocky peaks that make this place unique. Some look like human beings, birds or animals, or various other objects. Something that makes the stones even more fascinating is that they assume varied shapes when seen from different angles. Every stone has its fantastic legend, and some notable ones include "Celestial Basking Shoe" and the "Celestial basking boot."
We will continue to tour Hongcun, which is the main village where the Wang families live together. The Wang clan is a respectable family in the Central Plains of China. The descendants of the Wang clan spread to every part of the lower reaches of the Changjiang River. They are the earliest ancestors of Hungcun.
Encircled by green hills, two streams flow through the village from north and east, converging at Huiyuan Bridge. There are two main streets and 99 lanes in this village. All the streets and lanes are paved with cobbles or black stones. The residences, lanes, and streets combine well with the hills and streams. Lying about 10 kilometers (6 miles) northeast of Yixian County, Hongcun Village enjoys the reputation of 'a village in the beautiful Chinese picture' because of its location at high altitude and being shrouded by clouds and mist. It has about 137 Ming and Qing style residences.
A drive back to Huangshan city where we will spend the evening strolling along Tunxi Ancient Street. Old Street is 1.5 kilometers long and 7 meters wide. There are long lines of shops along two sides of the street. They are all made of brick and wood. All these houses in Huizhou style overflow a rush of definite archaic charm. Although the shops in the old street are not very large, they are relatively deep. The Tongeren was a Chinese traditional medicine shop. It was established in the second year of the Tongzhi Period of the Qing dynasty, with a history of over 120 years. Qimen black tea and Tunxi green tea which are famous throughout the world and are mostly distributed in Tunxi. All kinds of Anhui ink sticks and Sehxian ink stones can be found here.
