Legal Camping Guarantee and Adventure Summary

Great Wall Adventure Club is the only authorized business that is approved by the Great Wall Administration Office to offer camping on the Great Wall to all our customers. We are not like any other Tour guide company. We are unique because 100% of our focus is on the customer. To camp on the Great Wall legally, we pay a fee to the Great Wall Administration Office that allows us access to places no other companies have the authority to do so. Great Wall Adventure Club is not only the perfect guide for your Great Wall hike and camping experience but the only one.

Experience two of the best Great Wall hikes. The Gubeikou sections are very unique and possess many characteristics and beautiful landscapes. You will then make your way into Jinshanling which was listed as one of the world cultural heritage sites in 1987. It is one of the most popular sections for tourists who love an adventure and learn about the Great Walls history. It is said that Jinshanling Great Wall is the most beautiful and best preserved stretch of the Great Wall. You'll spend one night in a tent set up in a watchtower called The General's Tower. We will then make our way to Jiankou. These two sections of the Great Wall are mostly unrestored and it is quite an experience to see parts of the Great wall that are untouched. The last hike you will end in Mutianyu.

Amazing Views

We (2 adults and 2 girls ages 7 & 9) booked 2 day trips through Great Wall Adventure Club. First day we did Jiankou to Mutianyu section and then 2 days later did Jinshanling West to East. Our guide was Justin for both days. While both days were amazing we liked the Jinshanling section much better (less people, better views, no long strenuous hike to reach the wall). Justin was a great guide and had good knowledge of China and the Great Wall.

Great Wall Adventures were SOOOO easy to deal with. Great Wall Adventure Club really stood out above the rest in regard to their customer service, advice and quality of services offered and guides. Thanks Vivian and Justin!

ITINERARY

DAY 1: Gubeikou-Jinshanling (9 kms, 4.5-5 hours of hiking)

At about 9:30 am, our driver will meet you at the hotel. After 2.5 on the road, we will reach the Gubeikou section of the Great Wall and begin our two-day hike.

Gubeikou is unique in its way as it varies in size and design. It is a long windy wall which is very steep. This view is terrific and you will get to take it all in for about 10km. The Jinshanling Great Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has parts of its wall restored about a quarter. The rest is all unrestored, which gives you a more personal experience of The Great wall bringing you back in time. We will see the sunset while hiking on the wall.

You will then experience a Chinese style cuisine dinner that lives locally. After some delicious food, we will sleep overnight in a watchtower on the Great Wall. All camping equipment will be provided and taken care of, so no need to worry or stress. You can then bring in your surroundings while having a comfortable sleep.

Meals and Supplies

Meals: Lunch & Dinner in the local restaurants

Bottled Water: Unlimited

Accommodations: Camping at Gubeikou Great Wall with a full set of camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, and mattress)

If you’re not into camping you may stay overnight in a local home inn at the base of the Great Wall. Please let us know in advance and we will be happy to make arrangements

DAY 2: Jiankou-Mutianyu-Beijing (9 kms, 3-4 hours of hiking)

Watch the beautiful sunrise in the early morning while having breakfast. Drive to Jiankou and a walk of 30 mins to reach the Great Wall. This hike will last for about 4 hours.

The Jiankou section is known for its ruggedness and wild beauty, and you will be in awe of the marvelous views it affords. As soon as we reach Jiankou, we will see a deserted watchtower that gives you a panoramic view of the entire valley. In the early morning, the look is priceless with its morning fog. This section of the wall is not well known by tourists, although if you see a picture of the Great Wall from exotic traveling magazines, chances are it is from Jiankou. It is the pinnacle of fascinating Great Wall scenery. This part of the wall is often empty so that you will have some peace and serenity on your hike today.

From Jiankou, we will cross over onto Mutianyu, a section of the wall that has been largely restored. Mutianyu offers some breathtaking views of the valley and wall below.

You can hike down to the parking lot or take a cable car. Why not have a bit of fun and take a toboggan ride (slide) down to meet our driver. We will then have a lunch at a local restaurant. Then drive back to Beijing and drop you off at your hotel so you can enjoy the rest of your afternoon.
