Explore two very different landscapes in one overnight journey: Jinshanling’s ridges on the first day and the reservoir-side Wall around Huanghuacheng and Xishuiyu on the second. The published camp arrangement is at Gubeikou, so the lakeside walk should not be confused with a guaranteed lakeside sleeping location.
Begin with the Jinshanling–West Simatai area on the permitted route, then transfer to the agreed overnight base. After an early morning at camp, continue by road to Huanghuacheng. The suggested daily stages describe around seven kilometers followed by around ten; those are planning estimates, not fixed distances available under every access condition. A local inn can be discussed if you prefer an indoor night.
Explore Jinshanling’s ridges and the permitted eastern route described in the program as West Simatai or the Second Valley. Look for changing tower forms and defensive details. Do not confuse this walk with automatic access to the separately managed Simatai attraction; the agreed entrance and exit govern the day.
Change perspective among the reservoirs, hills and village approaches around Huanghuacheng and Xishuiyu. Follow the confirmed visitor route rather than assuming every waterside stretch is accessible. Steps and uneven sections remain part of the outing; the guide can shorten the walk to suit the day.
