In 1974, farmers dug wells in Xian, China, discovered the initial of 4 large pits, including a military of terracotta numbers. Emperor Qin Shi Huang hoped to continue ruling from his tomb for eternity, so he was buried with everything he might need. The army was there to protect him in the afterlife. Before him, the First Emperor of China, there had been no custom of life-size practical statuaries in China. This Word Heritage is worth exploring. Taking a high-speed bullet train is one of the most convenient ways to take a trip between Beijing and Xian. The bullet train trip between Beijing and also Xian runs at about 5-6 hours.
Suggested Itineraries:
A. Take an early fligh from Beijing to Xian. Return on a bulle train at 6 pm (arriving in Beijing at midnight).
C. Take a bullet train at 6:20 am from Beijing to Xian, and take a late everning flight back to Beijing.
You may not take bullet trains both ways within one day because each way takes about 5-6 hours. The morning and night flight costs the least to fly (for 2 hours).
Our Detailed Plan:
You will take a morning flight at 7 am from Beijing and arrive in Xian in just two hours. Or, you can also make an early bullet train at 6:20 am and arrive by 11 am. Either is convenient, but flying will give you two extra hours in Xian.
The priority is to see the Warriors. We'll head for the Museum directly. You may spend 3 hours out there, including having lunch in the Museum. Then you'll have extra time to visit the still functioning well-preserved City Wall, which now divides the old town of Xian and the newly developed.
Following your visit to the City Wall, you'll be taken to the Xian train station to go back to Beijing.

We had a fantastic one-day tour of the Museum of Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses. Our guide, Daniel, was all we could hope for; he was there to meet us when the overnight train arrived; displayed an immense wealth of knowledge about the site; and was very pleasant and entertaining throughout the day.
I highly recommend this tour and this guide.
