Great Wall Adventure Club is the only business authorized by the Great Wall Administration Office to use outdoor camping to global visitors. Some "tour agents" claim that they can do so, but they mean they'll take you to camp somewhere away from the Wall. We don't like that idea. In-depth Itinerary
Day 1: Hike the Magnificent Jinshanling and West Simatai Great Wall
We will pick you up from your hotel if that is within our free pickup radius (the 2nd Ring Road loop). Otherwise, you may simply take a taxi (cheap) or subway (around 2 to 6 yuan) to meet the Jinshanling hiking group and your guide at Chaoyangmen Subway Station at 7:20 am. The group is usually 20-25 in summer and 10-15 in lower seasons. But only you in the group will continue to camp today. The rest of the group will return to Beijing after the hiking. You will enjoy a private camping.
The Great Wall at Jinshanling is one of the best-preserved components of the Great Wall with numerous initial attributes. The Jinshanling Great Wall was originally constructed from 1368 to 1389 in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and also in 1567 and also 1570 restoring of the Wall was generally routed by General Qi Jiguang (1528-1588). This tour does NOT have a deadline of signup. If you sign up at the midnight, you are fine. Simply show up by 7:20 at Chaoyangmen Station and claim your booking with Great Wall Adventure Club to your guide James. James will report to our office about your participation.
Extended Hiking on Day 2
Don't want to go back to Beijing so soon? Paying an extra $39, you can walk the Gubeikou section where you have just camped for two hours and return to Beijing at 10 am.
You can also choose to walk from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and take the bus at noon for 4.5 hours. You will walk with a local guide who has assisted you with the camping last night. The fee is $99.
