We are starting at Gubeikou, an uncrowded section of the Great Wall that all-natural and unrestored. We will cross over into Jinshanling, which has beautiful scenery. Don’t forget your camera! The next day we continue to Panlongshan, a challenging but yet rewarding hike due to its steepness. From there, we will drive to Jiankou Great Wall, a section you will be in awe with. Mutianyu is next, one of the most popular sections, but still not overcrowded like other parts. Finally, we will hike at
Huanghuacheng Great Wall, which has inspiring construction work and photogenic mountainside views where the wall eventually is submerged by water!
We start at the East Qing Tombs, a burial site for famous China's last rulers. We will then head for the Huangyaguan section of the wall, which possesses fascinating brickwork and may watchtowers. We will then take on Huangyaguan for two days before sampling the Jinshanling hike, this section is all restored, but the restoration slowly fades as we cross onto the Gubeikou section of Great Wall.
Our next walk will be at Huanghuacheng, beautiful scenery and fantastic brickwork. About halfway through the hike, we will pass over into Xishuiyu, a unique part of the wall as it completely unrestored, and a piece history lays here. We will drive to Jiankou Great Wall the next day. It features beautiful scenery and an incredibly photogenic landscape. You will soon hike over into Mutianyu, a very popular section, but still not crowded as other areas.
This is truly a chance to see the real Great Wall in its all its glory and learn the history over five days. We start at Badaling, not the Badaling that all the tourists cram onto, but an area we have VIP access to, a fantastic opportunity. We then move onto Shixiaguan, a mostly intact portion of the Great Wall set against a lovely backdrop of mountains and rolling hills. The scene then changes to Huanghuacheng-Xishuiyu; this gives you the experience of the two types of the Great Wall, Unrestored and restored.
This is also an excellent chance to view the wall been submerged underwater! We’ll then set off for Jiankou, a section you will be in awe with. We’ll soon cross into Mutianyu, one of the most popular sections but still not overcrowded like other parts and a fun slide down on a toboggan! Our final leg brings us to Gubeikou. It held the battle against the Japanese in the 1930s. Then onto Jinshanling, a photographers paradise. This is where famous watchtowers are clustered across the mountainside. We will set up camp here for the night, a fantastic experience to sleep on the wall itself. The next day we finish at Simatai Great Wall, an unrestored section which is challenging but very rewarding!
One of the most amazing experiences of my life!
“These tours really are so worth it. I was considering going to hike by myself on the wall and I'm so glad I instead chose to go with Great Wall Adventure Company. My guide, Oliver, was totally awesome. He was professional, informative, fun, and a very chill addition to the experience. I really appreciated that while he kept an eye on the group, he was also very relaxed about letting us walk ahead or behind a bit, to venture off on our own a little whenever we wanted. The driver and Oliver were both incredibly nice. The food they ordered for us at every stop was AMAZING! One big reason why I would recommend going with one of their guides is that they know of these private entrances that a tourist would never be able to get to. Our hike on the first day went through a tiny village and up the back side of the wall (from the Mongol side) and we hiked up to the first watchtower that had an incredible view of the "Wild Wall." I would have missed this had I gone alone. Highly recommend!"
