TOUR 1R2: Gubeikou Sunrise and hike to Jinshanling

Our excellent tour guide will meet you at your hotel or at the airport. It is going to be a 2.5 hours drive from Beijing to Jinshanling and West Simatai.
 

We will walk from Jinshanling west ring to the east, which is also called Simatai West. As we head west, the Wall will start to deteriorate gradually, making the hike progressively more challenging, but also interesting to observe and compare.
 

The Jinshanling Great Wall is the best-preserved section of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty, which experts call the essence of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty. Yishan set up dangers and placed plugs by the water, the Xiongcheng undulating like steel walls and iron walls. There are many carved buildings, such as armored guards, "one man is in charge, and ten thousand are not open." The Wall here is famous for his full vision, dense enemy buildings, and peculiar functions of building defense systems.
 

The Simatai West section called the Second Valley. It is also unrestored and is ruins. This part of the Wall is known as the real Great Wall as it hasn't been touched or refurbished, this brings you back in time to when it was first built! You will also get to see how the Wall was designed for practical purposes such as the defense against enemies and how the Great Wall was supposed to keep them out. There are 'obstacle-walls' built perpendicular to the parapets - a feature unique to the Second Valley part of Jinshanling Great Wall.

When we finally will stop by a local farmer's restaurant for a late lunch before we head back to your hotel in Beijing or to the airport if you are laying over in Beijing.
