This program is the budget version of our longest day hike 1X from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and West Simatai of 16 km for 7 hours.
The 1X program was specifically designed at the request of visitors who wanted a challenging and more invigorating Great Wall hike. At 20km and 6+hours of hiking, this day at the Great Wall is no joke! However, if you’re up to the challenge, you’re in for a treat, as you’ll get to experience stunning views such as the snaking wall at Jinshanling and the dramatic ruins of West Simatai. You’ll get the full Great Wall experience, with high watchtowers, tastefully restored brickwork, and rugged and challenging Great Wall remnants.

From Chaoyangmen Station, we will take a ride of 2.5 hours to Gubeikou Watertown. Our hiking guide will meet you at the Watertown bus terminal and transfer you to Gubeikou Great Wall to begin your walk.
The Gubeikou Great Wall inhabits a tactically essential place, which is hard to gain access to. The Wall right here is entirely unrestored, covered with over 140 watchtowers, all varying in dimension as well as style. From the wall surface where you will certainly have the ability to witness just how the wall surface spins and also winds along with the high range of mountains.
In 1933, the Chinese military dealt with versus Japanese intrusion soldiers in Gubeikou. In the four-month-long fights, over 5,000 Japanese soldiers were killed while 9,000 Chinese soldiers died. It was impressive that the old wall surface is not just a relic, yet it stayed a field of battle in the modern war.
Much of the trekking that we will certainly do on Jinshanling today is reasonably simple. You will find different frameworks, as well as having numerous features. Those watchtowers are either one tiered or two-tiered only available at Jinshanling.
Slowly, you will go across over right into West Simatai. The Simatai area of the Great Wall is one of a couple of areas to maintain the initial look of the Great Wall.
After 7-8 hrs of walking, you will descend the Great Wall, and take the return bus at Gubeikou Watertown. You will arrive at the Dongzhimen Bus Terminal in Beijing.
I just wanted to write to let you know what a fantastic time I had trekking on the Great Wall. Aaron was a GREAT guide! He was extremely knowledgeable and really fun to trek with. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking a knowledgeable English speaking guide.
