3-day 2-Night Great Wall Treks for Backpackers

Hike the most well-known Great Wall hikes along with one of the least known sections of Great Wall. Your trek begins with the hike from Jiankou Great Wall, which features unbelievable landscapes and ancient ruins. This area was made for photographers.  
 

One of the most famous and popular sections of the Great Wall, Mutianyu, is where you will visit next. The next day we will take you to Gubeikou onto Jinshanling tour, which allows you to see both restored and “wild” Great Wall. Prepare for a night of camping on the Wall in one of the famous watchtowers.

For this hike, we start at Gubeikou, where we will hike through Jinshanling until we reach the western section of Simatai. On this tour, we will visit two types of The Great Wall, the restored and untouched. We take you onto Jiankou then, which is becoming one of the most photographed sections of Great Wall. Once you experience this section, you will know why no words needed. 

From Jiankou, we take you to Mutianyu, which you will be able to see a vast difference in the wall compares to Jiankou. We finish your tour with a visit to Huanghuacheng-Xishuiyu, which also features restored and unrestored sections of the Great Wall. Also, a beautiful view of where the wall goes underwater! Jiankou-Mutianyu makes for a fascinating study of contrasts in Great Wall styles.

We will explore the Summer Resort of the Royal Qing Emperor and its surrounding temples. Today’s Great Wall hike is from the Panjiakou to the Xifengkou Great Wall sections. The Wall here is perfect for a unique view of the Great Wall by water.

We begin at Jiankou, known for its wonderful landscape and photogenic features. We then head towards one of the most popular sections among photographers, Mutianyu. The following morning we will hike the Huanghuacheng to Xishuiyu trail, which possesses an underwater Great Wall section. We set off for Badaling, a section that many people know about, But the area we will go is a distant, hidden secret that we bring you to experience and learn about the unrestored part, where no crowds of people are present. 

We will finish at Shixiaguan, a wonderful fantasy view of the Great Wall, where it is known to be the most intact part of the wall.
