Highlights
Shixiaguan is set among the mountains in a glorious landscape. This section o the wall is still very intact and stable.. Nevertheless, the wall remains relatively intact because of its strategic location. Shixiaguan Pass was originally built in the reign of Ming Emperor Wanli which was about 1600AD. It is a key pass that was once protected by a large number of soldiers.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch
Accommodation: Camping on the Wall at Huanghuacheng
Huanghuacheng sits near a lake and a reservoir. The crescent shaped reservoir is called Huanghuacheng Reservoir, while the name of the lake is Jintang.
It might not be the highest, longest or most challenging stretch of wall, but Huanghuacheng’s water features create a variety of scenery unlike any other section. It also hosts a perhaps unrivalled choice of activities. Besides walks on the rather tastefully restored portion, there is also a unique range of boat trips, including sightseeing cruises, rowing boats upon the Haoming Lake that the wall encircles.
One of the best things about the Huanghuacheng Great Wall, it is largely quite. Compared to other sections, this is an amazing area of the Great Wall that is both unique and holds an interesting past.

A very beautiful area known for its white glow and its steepness. Known as 'Arrow Nock' in English as it features an arrow shaped mountain. It was built in the Ming Dynasty era (1368 - 1644). Today The Great Wall at Jiankou retains its original appearance since its construction in 1368. It is known for its ‘wildness’ otherwise untouched, unrestored and has all its history on display for you to see! One of the most notable features is it zigzags for 9.3 miles.
Once we descend from the Great Wall we will spend the night at a farmer’s inn.

Not many people actually know about this part of the Great Wall (Mutianyu) as well as the other section and more populous section, Badaling. Badaling is always like a swarm of bees around a beehive, it's a very busy area and there are just too many people there to truly take in your surroundings and enjoy your visit especially during peak time. Mutianyu is the perfect alternative if you are looking for a more of a peaceful experience. Mutianyu which is closer to Beijing than badaling maybe is another reason you would choose this part. Mutianyu is known for its steep landscape and for its uniqueness.

Jinshanling is one of the best parts of The Great Wall as it has many original features. It was crowned “Second Valley” because it was built on the Greater and Lesser Jinshan (‘Gold Mountain’) Ranges. A tablet with the Chinese inscription for Jinshanling Great Wall was set into this section. This section of the wall has been left untouched since 1570. It is a remote and relatively isolated section of the Great Wall
Tonight, we will camp on the Great Wall in an ancient watchtower.

Gubeikou is unique in its own way as it varies in size and design. It is a long windy wall which is very steep. This view is wonderful and you will get to take it all in for about 10km. The Jinshanling Great Wall a UNESCO World Heritage Site has parts of its wall restored about a quarter. The rest is all unrestored which gives you a more personal experience of The Great wall bringing you back in time. We will see the sunset while hiking on the wall. In 1933, the Chinese army fought against a Japanese invasion at Gubeikou. After four long months of battling there was over 5000 Japanese soldiers killed and 9000 Chinese soldiers. You can see that Gubeikou is not merely a relic but it remained as a battlefield in the modern world.
We will return to Beijing in late afternoon.

My Guide Aaron was very helpful, supportive, knowledgeable and he took awesome photos even without me asking for them. I would advise him to enhance his English language as it limits him from having extended conversations which make people think that he is unapproachable or untalkative especially for the 1st one or two days until you get used to him. But i would give him 5/5 for the effort and commitment.
The car was luxurious, clean and very comfortable. Our driver was always ready on-time and driving professionally throughout all the trip.
All the hotels we stayed in were comfortable, clean, with warm sheets, air-conditioning, and hot water.
Food was plenty and pretty Chinese with foreigners un-friendly items but I was able to know what items I do like and keep on choosing them in all meals, it was much easier after the 1st days and we got to understand our favorite choices. But the restaurants were always of good-standard and clean,
The communications with the company were very timely, information was available when needed, one thing I did not like is the pricing of the trips, I was initially focused on 7B itinerary which costed 3129 USD for 1 person but then i asked for a cheaper option so they provided with 6A tour mainly 1 day shorter and visiting same places for the same amount of time dedicated to each place for 2000 USD without providing information about what are the differences between the two options. But i am very happy with 6A itinerray as it exceeded my expectations.
