Experience two of the best Great Wall hikes. The Gubeikou sections are unique and possess many characteristics and beautiful landscapes. You will then make your way into Jinshanling, which was listed as one of the world's cultural heritage sites in 1987. It is one of the most popular sections for tourists who love adventure and learn about the Great Walls history. It is said that the Jinshanling Great Wall is the most beautiful and best-preserved stretch of the Great Wall. You'll spend one night in a tent set up in a watchtower called The General's Tower. We will then make our way to Jiankou. These two sections of the Great Wall are mostly unrestored, and it is quite an experience to see untouched parts of the Great Wall. The last hike you will end in Mutianyu.
At about 9:30 am, our driver will meet you at the hotel. After 2.5 on the road, we will reach the Gubeikou section of the Great Wall and begin our two-day hike.
Gubeikou is unique in its way as it varies in size and design. It is a long windy wall which is very steep. This view is terrific and you will get to take it all in for about 10km. The Jinshanling Great Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has parts of its wall restored about a quarter. The rest is all unrestored, which gives you a more personal experience of The Great wall bringing you back in time. We will see the sunset while hiking on the wall.
You will then experience a Chinese style cuisine dinner that lives locally. After some delicious food, we will sleep overnight in a watchtower on the Great Wall. All camping equipment will be provided and taken care of, so no need to worry or stress. You can then bring in your surroundings while having a comfortable sleep.

Watch the beautiful sunrise in the early morning while having breakfast. We will resume our hike on Jinshanling's right-wing, where we will hike until we reach Simatai West called the Second Valley. The Wall gradually deteriorates along this section, making it quite challenging, but this is what makes this hike so unique as you get to experience the untouched Great Wall dating back hundreds of years.
The Jinshanling Great Wall possesses an excellent opportunity to take in some fabulous views. It is very remote, but it's what makes it so unique and a great chance to experience the nature and the wild parts of the Wall.
The Simatai West section called the Second Valley. It is also unrestored and is ruins. This part of the Wall is known as the real Great Wall as it hasn't been touched or refurbished, this brings you back in time to when it was first built! You will also get to see how the Wall was designed for practical purposes, such as the defense against enemies and how the Great Wall was supposed to keep them out.
As night time reaches, we make our way to farmotel at the base of the mountain in Jiankou.
Distance: 9km
Hours: 3.5
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Accommodation: A famotel at the Great Wall

The hiking today will cover about 10km/6miles. The Jiankou section is known for its ruggedness and wild beauty, and you will be in awe of the marvelous views it affords. As soon as we reach Jiankou, we will see a deserted watchtower that gives you a panoramic view of the entire valley. In the early morning, the look is priceless with its morning fog. This section of the wall is not well known by tourists, although if you see a picture of the Great Wall from exotic traveling magazines, chances are it is from Jiankou. This is the pinnacle of fascinating Great Wall scenery. This part of the wall is often empty so that you will have some peace and serenity on your hike today.
From Jiankou, we will cross over onto Mutianyu, a section of the wall that has been largely restored. Mutianyu offers some breathtaking views of the valley and wall below.
You can hike down to the parking lot or take a cable car. Why not have a bit of fun and make a toboggan ride (slide) down to meet our driver. We will then have lunch at a local restaurant. Later drive back to Beijing and drop you off at your hotel so you can enjoy the rest of your afternoon.
When you return home, you won’t be able to hold in the excitement of looking back over your trip! Why not upload them onto our Hall of Fame and show your friends!

A very special experience!
A wonderful way to see the Great Wall without the tourist hordes. I did trip 3A, which included a good mix of restored and unrestored sections. Tour guide Aaron was excellent - just the right amount of info while allowing me to proceed at my own pace. Driver likewise was extremely courteous and responsible. The company is very easy to deal with - responded promptly to all email inquiries. Slept on the wall one night, which was cool. The motel-type accommodations the other night were very simple, but that is part of the experience. One piece of advice: At the end of May, when I went, the weather was quite warm and the atmosphere was very hazy (pollution, I assume). If you have a choice, it might be cooler and the views clearer in the Fall.
