Amazing Experience
"Absolutely incredible!! Our guide Oliver and our driver (Mr. Wong) took great care of us. Amazing adventure with the family (ages from 10 to 17). Challenging yet very rewarding. Wish we would have done the 11-day trek!! An absolute must. Thanks to all!" -- Patrick, B. on TripAdvisor, Date of experience: July 2019
Huanghuacheng sits near a lake and a reservoir. The crescent-shaped reservoir is called Huanghuacheng Reservoir, while the name of the lake is Jintang.
It might not be the highest, longest, or most challenging stretch of wall, but Huanghuacheng’s water features create a variety of scenery, unlike any other section. It also hosts a perhaps unrivaled choice of activities. Besides walks on the somewhat tastefully restored portion, there is also a unique range of boat trips, including sightseeing cruises, rowing boats upon the Haoming Lake that the wall encircles. One of the best things about the Huanghuacheng Great Wall, it is mostly quite. Compared to other sections, this is a fantastic area of the Great Wall that is both unique and holds an exciting past.

Not many people know about this part of the Great Wall (Mutianyu) as well as the other section and more populous section, Badaling. Which is always like a swarm of bees around a beehive, it's a bustling area, and there are just too many people there to truly take in your surroundings and enjoy your visit, especially during peak time. Mutianyu is the perfect alternative if you are looking for more of a peaceful experience. It is closer to Beijing than Badaling is, and maybe this is another reason you would choose this part. Mutianyu is known for its steep landscape and its uniqueness.

Adventure through the most ancient battlefield of The Great Wall named Gubeikou. This section was used against the Japanese in the 1930s. In 1933, the Chinese army fought against a Japanese invasion at Gubeikou. After four long months of battling, there were over 5000 Japanese soldiers killed and 9000 Chinese soldiers. You can see that Gubeikou is not merely a relic, but it remained as a battlefield in the modern world. We will transfer to Jiankou, where we will sleep tonight.

Panlongshan is better known as the ‘Coiling Dragon Mountain,’ which is also a part of the Gubeikou section of the Great Wall. It is a great place to see the wall in its original real state. It still has its historic marks or scars as we like to call them. For over 15 km, you will come across 84 towers! The two main towers that represent the uniqueness of the Wall design are General Tower and 24-hole Tower, serving as the command center at the highest point of Panlongshan.
Hiking here is a challenge but very safe. It will be all worth it once you experience the views here.
We will then make our way towards Huangyaguan.

Peace Fort (Taipingzhai) is where we begin today’s journey; it starts from Banlagang Mountain in the east and finishing at Guafu Tower, known as Widow Tower in the west.
Making our way westward, we will reach the steepest part of this section, the Huangya Sky Ladder. The ladder leads to the top of the ridge and seems to go to the sky. When we climb over the ladder, we will reach the area of the Great Wall built in the Northern Qi Dynasty, marking the end of the Huangyaguan section.
We will drive to Beijing this afternoon.

"It was a great idea to book this type of adventure. I had no idea what to expect. My guide was Oliver. Great guy with good knowledge of the area and history. Beside of that he was funny too. It was great time spent together with him during these three days of hiking. I can tell that specially third day was difficult in the beginning. For me, the guy working behind the desk it could be even more problematic, but it wasn't!. I am proud of myself that I was able to "survive" this trip without any issues. I have camera full of great pictures and had full of great memories from this adventure. We've seen many interesting things. I liked the farmer's house hotel we stayed over night. The room was clean, nicely prepared for us, clean bathroom and even draperies in the window.. Even there was a tv and Wi-Fi(!). By the way, I was too tired to watch the tv. The second night we spent in the great wall tower sleeping in the tents! That was amazing experience.
Thanks Oliver, thanks the Driver!
I recommend this attraction to everybody!!!"
