After 2.5 on the road, we will reach the Gubeikou section of the Great Wall and begin our two-day hike.
Gubeikou is unique in its way as it varies in size and design. It is a long windy wall which is very steep. This view is terrific and you will get to take it all in for about 10km. The Jinshanling Great Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has parts of its wall restored about a quarter. The rest is all unrestored, which gives you a more personal experience of The Great wall bringing you back in time. We will see the sunset while hiking on the wall.
INCLUDED
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Jinshanling Hostel
We will resume our hike on Jinshanling's right-wing, where we will hike until we reach Simatai West called the Second Valley. The Wall gradually deteriorates along this section, making it quite challenging, but this is what makes this hike so unique as you get to experience the untouched Great Wall dating back hundreds of years.
The Jinshanling Great Wall possesses a great opportunity to take in some fabulous views.
The Simatai West section called the Second Valley. It is also unrestored and is ruins. This part of the Wall is known as the real Great Wall as it hasn't been touched or refurbished, this brings you back in time to when it was first built! There are 'obstacle-walls' built perpendicular to the parapets - a feature unique to the Second Valley part of Jinshanling Great Wall.
INCLUDED
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Jiankou Hostel
The hiking today will cover about 10km/6miles. The Jiankou section is known for its ruggedness and wild beauty, and you will be in awe of the marvelous views it affords. As soon as we reach Jiankou, we will see a deserted watchtower that gives you a panoramic view of the entire valley. In the early morning, the look is priceless with its morning fog.
This section of the wall is not well known by tourists, although if you see a picture of the Great Wall from exotic traveling magazines, chances are it is from Jiankou. This is the pinnacle of fascinating Great Wall scenery. This part of the wall is often empty so that you will have some peace and serenity on your hike today.
Once we descend from the Great Wall, we will spend the night at a farmer’s inn.
INCLUDED
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Jiankou Hostel
From Jiankou, we will cross over onto Mutianyu, a section of the wall that has been largely restored. Mutianyu offers some breathtaking views of the valley and wall below.
You can hike down to the parking lot or take a cable car. Why not have a bit of fun and make a toboggan ride (slide) down to meet our driver. We will then have lunch at a local restaurant. Later we’ll drive back to Beijing and drop you off at your hotel so you can enjoy the rest of your afternoon.
We will drive to Huanghuacheng to camp on the Great Wall tonight! An experience you will love!!
INCLUDED
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Camping on the Great Wall at Huanghuacheng
Huanghuacheng sits near a lake and a reservoir. The crescent-shaped reservoir is called Huanghuacheng Reservoir, while the name of the lake is Jintang.
It might not be the highest, longest, or most challenging stretch of wall, but Huanghuacheng’s water features create a variety of scenery, unlike any other section. It also hosts a perhaps unrivaled choice of activities. Besides walks on the slightly tastefully restored portion, there is also a unique range of boat trips, including sightseeing cruises, rowing boats upon the Haoming Lake that the wall encircles. One of the best things about the Huanghuacheng Great Wall, it is mostly quite. Compared to other sections, this is a fantastic area of the Great Wall that is both unique and holds an exciting past.

"It was a great idea to book this type of adventure. I had no idea what to expect. My guide was Oliver. Great guy with good knowledge of the area and history. Beside of that he was funny too. It was great time spent together with him during these three days of hiking. I can tell that specially third day was difficult in the beginning. For me, the guy working behind the desk it could be even more problematic, but it wasn't!. I am proud of myself that I was able to "survive" this trip without any issues. I have camera full of great pictures and had full of great memories from this adventure. We've seen many interesting things. I liked the farmer's house hotel we stayed over night. The room was clean, nicely prepared for us, clean bathroom and even draperies in the window.. Even there was a tv and Wi-Fi(!). By the way, I was too tired to watch the tv. The second night we spent in the great wall tower sleeping in the tents! That was amazing experience.
Thanks Oliver, thanks the Driver!
I recommend this attraction to everybody!!!"
