Jinshanling is one of the best parts of The Great Wall as it has many original features. It was crowned "Second Valley" because it was built on the Greater and Lesser Jinshan ('Gold Mountain') Ranges. A tablet with the Chinese inscription for Jinshanling Great Wall was set into this section. This section of the wall has been left untouched since 1570. It is a remote and relatively isolated section of the Great Wall.
The Simatai West section called the Second Valley. It is also unrestored and is ruins. This part of the wall is known as the real Great Wall as it hasn't been touched or refurbished, this brings you back in time to when it was first built! You will also get to see how the wall was designed for practical purposes, such as the defense against enemies and how the Great Wall was supposed to keep them out. There are 'obstacle-walls' built perpendicular to the parapets - a feature unique to the Second Valley part of Jinshanling Great Wall.
Tonight, we will camp on the Great Wall in an ancient watchtower..

Gubeikou is unique in its own way as it varies in size and design. It is a long windy wall which is very steep. This view is wonderful and you will get to take it all in for about 10km. The Jinshanling Great Wall a UNESCO World Heritage Site has parts of its wall restored about a quarter. The rest is all unrestored which gives you a more personal experience of The Great wall bringing you back in time. We will see the sunset while hiking on the wall. In 1933, the Chinese army fought against a Japanese invasion at Gubeikou. After four long months of battling there was over 5000 Japanese soldiers killed and 9000 Chinese soldiers. You can see that Gubeikou is not merely a relic but it remained as a battlefield in the modern world.
You will then experience a Chinese style cuisine dinner that lives locally.

This area is very beautiful and known for its white glow and its steepness. Known as 'Arrow Nock' in English as it features an arrow shaped mountain. It was built in the Ming Dynasty era (1368 - 1644). Today The Great Wall at Jiankou retains its original appearance since its construction in 1368. It is known for its ‘wildness’ otherwise untouched, unrestored and has all its history on display for you to see! One of the most notable features is it zigzags for 9.3 miles.
Once we descend from the Great Wall , we'll transfer to Huanghuacheng where we will enjoy a great dinner again and get ready to camp on the Great Wall for the second night.

Accommodation: JInshanling Hostel
Wake up early in the morning to embrace the sunrise, which can only been seen by camping on the Wall.
The Huanghuacheng (Yellow Flower City) Great Wall is a beautiful tourist spot combining mountains, lakes and ancient Great Wall. It is the latest section to become popular with hikers. It provides a challenge for hikers because the paths are steep and out of repair. The Wall here is divided by lakes and some parts are even immersed in the water, which is a very unique characteristic, distinguishing it from other sections of the Great Wall.
The Great Wall is surrounded by mountains with verdant vegetation, lots of blossom and other seasonal beauty. During summer, the countryside around the Huanghuacheng Great Wall is swathed in yellow, as masses of wild flowers come into bloom. The highest point of the wall is a broken watchtower, and from there you will have a wide panoramic view of the whole valley.
Today's hike is about 2.5 hours. After we descend, we'll drive back to Beijing. You can return to your hotel by noon. You can plan to do something in the afternoon, or you may leave Beijing for your next destination. We'll drop y ou off at the airport or train station for your afternoon departure.

"Absolutely fantastic Experience!"
We recently did a 4 day hike of the great wall with Great Wall Adventure Club and it was a truly unforgettable experience. The Great Wall of China is an amazing landmark and what better way to really see it than to walk it for 4 days. The walking was challenging yet rewarding, the accommodation we stayed in was fine and the food over the few days was incredible. Our leader Aaron was fantastic, very talkative, knowledgeable, friendly and spoke good English. Our driver was also great! Highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to see the wall or hike the wall.
