We will first start our hike from Jiankou. The Jiankou section is known for its ruggedness and wild beauty, and you will be in awe of the marvelous views it affords. As soon as we reach Jiankou, we will see a deserted watchtower that gives you a panoramic view of the entire valley. We will cross over onto Mutianyu, a section of the wall that has been largely restored. Mutianyu offers some breathtaking views of the valley and wall below.
You can hike down or make a toboggan ride (slide) down to meet our driver.
We will drive to Jinshanling to spend the night! An experience you will love!!
INCLUDED
Meals: B, L
Accommodation: JInshanling Hostel
Jinshanling is one of the best parts of The Great Wall as it has many original features. It was crowned “Second Valley” because it was built on the Greater and Lesser Jinshan (‘Gold Mountain’) Ranges. A tablet with the Chinese inscription for Jinshanling Great Wall was set into this section. This section of the wall has been left untouched since 1570. It is a remote and relatively isolated section of the Great Wall.
Tonight, we will camp on the Great Wall in an ancient watchtower. An experience you will love!!
INCLUDED
Meals: B, L, D
Accommodation: Camping on the Wall
Gubeikou is unique in its way as it varies in size and design. It is a long windy wall which is very steep. This view is terrific and you will get to take it all in for about 10km. The Jinshanling Great Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has parts of its wall restored about a quarter. The rest is all unrestored, which gives you a more personal experience of The Great wall bringing you back in time. We will see the sunset while hiking on the wall.
In 1933, the Chinese army fought against a Japanese invasion at Gubeikou. After four long months of battling, there were over 5000 Japanese soldiers killed and 9000 Chinese soldiers. You can see that Gubeikou is not merely a relic, but it remained as a battlefield in the modern world.
We will move to Huangyaguan tonight for a sleep right at the foot of the Great Wall.
INCLUDED
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Huangyaguan Hotel
Peace Fort (Taipingzhai) is where we begin today's journey.
The characteristics of this section of the Great Wall building are: the wall of the table has bricks and stones, the enemy building has squares and circles, and the building bricks are hollow and solid. There is everything in Guancheng Fortress and the enemy's watergate. Connecting mountains and rivers, the layout is ingenious.
Making our way westward, we will reach the steepest part of this section, the Huangya Sky Ladder. When we climb over the ladder, we will reach the area of the Great Wall built in the Northern Qi Dynasty, marking the end of the Huangyaguan section.
Today is the last day of our adventure.
Hours: 10
INCLUDED
Meals: B,L
"Absolutely fantastic Experience!"
We recently did a 4 day hike of the great wall with Great Wall Adventure Club and it was a truly unforgettable experience. The Great Wall of China is an amazing landmark and what better way to really see it than to walk it for 4 days. The walking was challenging yet rewarding, the accommodation we stayed in was fine and the food over the few days was incredible. Our leader Aaron was fantastic, very talkative, knowledgeable, friendly and spoke good English. Our driver was also great! Highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to see the wall or hike the wall.
